Karis was born and raised in Dallas, Texas, and studied Opera at Texas Christian University and Wheaton College Conservatory of Music where she graduated with a BM in vocal performance. She got her MFA in Acting from the Asolo Conservatory in Sarasota, Florida, and she lives in New York City and Los Angeles.
She also writes and produces for film and digital media. She has taken her films to film festivals both large and small. She will make up her own film festival in her living room and screen them for you if you ask her. She also works as a video producer in the digital media industry creating content for the home and food space as well as commercials and in 2023 she won a Webby for Apartment Therapy in the category of best social video for Culture and Lifestyle.
She loves cooking, not baking, playing her uke, and dreaming of being a famous solo ukulele player like Roy Smeck. But since it’s not the 1920’s becoming an international ukulele sensation is unlikely.
